The Kids Fair Collection is an independent children’s fashion label launched in Athens in 2017 as a nonprofit organization based on a simple and original idea: children’s garments and other fabric products donated to less privileged children are designed by school children.
The action includes identifying children in need and children who volunteer to help them through their designs, finding fabrics, design supervision, sewing and donation, as well as communicating with all the stakeholders throughout the process.
Brand new quality clothes, designed with love and inspiration by children are made of fabric remains and then are donated to children up to 18 years of age, housed in institutions, hospitals and children’s homes – to name but a few – on occasions such as birthdays, rehabilitation, fostering, graduation, international celebration days, etc.
The clothes are tailor made because, in consultation with the social institutions, the children are designing for the specific children to whom the clothes are intended, adjusting their ideas and designs according to their gender, age and size. People behind the Kids Fair have another main occupation. However, the will for social offer, solidarity, volunteering and a sense of social responsibility, mainly in the fields of caring for children and respect for the environment, brings us together.
The ultimate goal of Kids Fair Collection is to provide apparel to as many deprived children hosted in children’s homes or other institutions as possible. However, our ambition goes beyond providing them with second hand or ragged clothes.In contrast, we would like them to have brand new, stylish, tailor-made garments of top quality and in excellent condition.
This is a kids to kids project as children themselves are asked to design clothes for children in need.
It is the first non-profit organization that supports an initiative to collect fabric in excellent condition from both companies and individuals to serve a dual purpose. We are interested in reducing the amount of litter produced by fabric waste with a view to using the fabric collected to design and create well-made clothes for children under the age of 18. These clothes will be given to children hosted at children’s homes or other institutions or even families who meet certain criteria on special occasions such as birthdays, name days, rehabilitation, fostering, graduation, international celebration days, etc.
We promote the development of human networks and social solidarity with the aim of supporting children regardless of their origin, ethnic background, religion or disability through volunteering. It also our intention to support the most vulnerable refugee group – the unaccompanied minors.
Kids Fair Collection seeks the cooperation of other stakeholders either local or international, individuals or corporations legal entities in order to materialize its dream and its participation in pertinent National or European projects in order to materialize its dream.
